For the correct operation of CounterPath’s desktop and mobile softphone clients, it is necessary that CounterPath’s softphones be able to periodically contact the CounterPath License Server to validate the softphone's license key(s).
For CounterPath softphones that are used from behind a corporate firewall, in cases where there are strict firewall rules in place, the IT administrator must make changes to allow the CounterPath License Server to be contacted. It is recommended that the firewall be programmed with a rule to permit HTTPS connections to secure.counterpath.com and secure-east.softphone.com, which is the method used by the majority of our customers today.
However, in some cases, there are customers that specify firewall exceptions based on IP addresses rather than using DNS; in these cases, due to planned changes to CounterPath’s License Server infrastructure (to improve the overall resiliency of CounterPath’s License Servers in the event of data centre incidents), these firewall rules need to be updated with the following IP addresses:
- 69.90.51.170
- 216.93.246.170
- 137.135.52.175
