CounterPath's iOS applications can be used with CarPlay compatible vehicles
CounterPath's iOS applications can be used with CarPlay compatible vehicles, but only if the user is using an audio source from the iOS device. If the user is playing audio directly from the vehicle, the audio will be muted while the CounterPath application is running in a "background" state.
What You Need
- A car that supports Apple CarPlay. Supported vehicles according to Apple: http://www.apple.com/ca/ios/carplay/available-models/
- iPhone 5 or newer running iOS 10+
- Bria 3.8.1 or newer
- Enable the Native Integration setting under Preferences within Bria
- Connect iPhone to the car via a Lightning cable
You will be able to:
- Answer or decline incoming Bria calls via the CarPlay interface.
- Make outgoing calls using Bria from Contacts and Call Logs on the CarPlay interface.
- Hear the other party over the vehicle's sound system.
- Switch between vehicle's sound system (displayed as CarPlay on Bria), iPhone, and other Bluetooth headsets if connected.
- Control an established Bria call, such as mute, hold, add call, swap, merge and end.
Note that Siri support (e.g. talking to Siri to make a call using Bria) and video calls are not supported when CarPlay is used. If you want to have video calls, disable the Native Integration setting under Bria's preferences.
When Native Integration is Disabled
When the Native Integration setting is disabled in Bria, connecting an iPhone to your car via a Lightning cable allows you to:
- answer Bria incoming calls on Bria screen on your iPhone (instead of built-in screen in your car).
- hear the other party over the vehicle's sound system.
- use Bria on your iPhone to mute, end the call, etc.
